Bread boxes are making a comeback! While they fell out of favor as consumers moved toward less healthful bread options with longer shelf lives, in 2019 people are all about FRESH healthy bread. And there's no better way to store fresh bread than in a breadbox. The box provides temperature and humidity control to keep the bread from drying out too quickly or getting moldy. Our design will be a fun exercise in through mortise and tenon joinery, sculpting curves, hinge installation, and getting creative within the confines of a relatively small package.

Tenons

The tenons are carefully cut to fit the mortises perfectly.
Tenon Profiles

The tenons receive a decorative shape.
Rabbets, Bevels & Side Profiles

Additional details are added to the box.
Doors

A discussion about wood grain, color and contrast as well as the basic construction of the doors.
Copper Punch Panel

Adding a copper punch panel to the bread box door.
Hinges

The hinges are installed into carefully-located mortises for a clean installation.
Door Shaping & Pulls

The doors get their shape and the pulls are cut and shaped.
Back Panel

The back panel is cut to size and jazzed up with some ventilation slots.
Finish & Final Assembly

Rubio Monocoat is applied and the breadbox is assembled.
