This was my introduction to real wood working. You think, cool… I’m going to make a neat looking cabinet that will hold some stuff. While that’s entirely true; what it’s really doing is teaching you skills. Making doors thst fit, joinery, dados, stopped dados. Each of the many skills you pick up here easily transfers to your next project. Right after this project I built a huge cabinet to store my tools in. All with the skills and confidence I picked up from making a littlr cabinet. Well worth it.

This is an excellent project for for all skill levels, but I think anyone looking to improve their skills would find it especially fun and interesting. As woodworking projects go it has it all.. dovetails, mortise and tenon joinery, stopped dados, chisel work, doors and drawers.. and Marc does his usual excellent job of breaking it all down so it’s easy to understand and implement. The other nice thing about this project is it has a relatively low board foot requirement, so even if you use a nicer hardwood it won’t break the bank.
